Association of Law Firms of Georgia (ALFG) Civil Procedure Code (CPC) Working Group members discuss possible legislative changes

On June 20-21, 2015, EWMI-PROLoG supported a Workshop on Civil Procedure Code (CPC) Reform at the Ambasadori Hotel, Kachreti, where the Association of Law firms of Georgia (ALFG) CPC Working Group members came together to finalize the draft of CPC changes and to discuss the proposed reforms before presenting it to the Ministry of Justice.

In September 2014, ALFG offered to the MoJ’s Private Law Reform Advisory Council to take on the challenge of re-drafting key parts of the Civil Procedure Code of Georgia with a particular emphasis on making the Code more adversarial as well as tackling other problems in the Code relating to interim security measures, court representation, and ex parte decisions.  The MoJ received ALFG’s proposition with enthusiasm and encouraged ALFG to develop a first draft of the proposed amendments which will become a topic of discussion for the MoJ Private Law Reform Council.
