“Cross-over responsibility of company director and company partners”

On November 24, 2015, Association of Law Firms of Georgia (ALFG) held  the conference on “Cross-over responsibility of company director and company partners”   at “Courtyard Marriot”  hotel.  Nino Bakakuri, judge of the Supreme Court of Georgia and Giorgi Batlidze, attorney, partner of ALFG member law office “BLC” held speeches at the conference.

Speakers discussed legal basis to impose responsibilities on the company’s directors due to the Georgian legislation. Review of the recent decision of the Supreme Court of Georgia was also presented at the conference. The Supreme Court held a decision establishing that in certain exceptional cases, the directors and/or the partner may be responsible for the company’s tax liabilities, which means that in the existence of certain preconditions, a company’s partner and / or director may be personally responsible for company’s liabilities.

Conference was attended by the ALFG member lawyers and representatives from international organizations.  Finalized discussion was held, where participants had an opportunity to ask questions and share positions on the important issues.
