Presentation of the Research – “Guarantees of Protection of Property Rights in Criminal Proceedings”

On December 16, 2019, Rooms Hotel Tbilisi hosted a research presentation on -“Guarantees of Property Rights in Criminal Proceedings” organized by the Association of Law Firms of Georgia (ALFG).

The study was initiated by the ALFG Criminal Justice Working Group and financially assisted by the Open Society – Georgia Foundation (OSFG).

The final cause of the research was to study the attachment and confiscation of property in criminal proceedings, likewise the removal of material evidence and related issues under the case law of the European Court of Human Rights, as well as analysis of Georgian legislation, law enforcement agencies and case law, elaboration of a package of recommendations and legislative amendments.

The research was conducted by experts – Davit Kvachantiradze (Head of ALFG Criminal Working Group, VBAT Partner Law Firm), Tinatin Tskhvediani (Senior Lawyer of ALFG Member VBAT Law Firm) and Aleksandre Noselidze (Member of ALFG Criminal Working Group, Lawyer).

The presentation of the research was sat in by lawyers, judges, representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), NGO and donor organizations.
