Review of Decisions of Constitutional Court of Georgia
On June 1, 2015, Association of Law Firms of Georgia ALFG) and EU Project “Support to the Constitutional Court of Georgia,” held a discussion on “Review of Decisions of the Constitutional Court” at Radisson Blue Iveria. The meeting was attended by the ALFG attorney members, the chairperson of the Constitutional Court of Georgia” Giorgi Papuashvili, judges of Constitutional Court of Georgia, Qeti Eremadze, Lali Phaphiashvili and Konstatine Vardzelashvil and Deputy Team Leader of EU project “Support to the Constitutional Court of Georgia” Giorgi Tughushi. Judges presented analysis of the recent court decisions. Special attention was paid to the issues concerning constitutional submissionsand the Constitutional Court’s decision to suspend enforcement of its rulings. The participants also discussed other considerable issues, including Constitutional Court’s Decisions to be disregarded by the administrative authorities, the Constitutional Court’s role in law-making process and the role of attorneys in promoting constitutional justice. During the meeting, the member attorneys of Association of Law Firms of Georgia expressed their opinion that attorneys involvement in “friend of court” institute will improve advocate’s role and participation in the constitutional justice. At the end of the meeting, the judges of the Constitutional Court expressed their readiness and willingness to cooperate with ALFG members and participate conferences and discussions organized by Association of Law Firms of Georgia.
